Rural Worker Award

The award aims at facilitating the worker, who has contributed to the rural development through his outstanding work in the respective field and has given exceptional inputs for bringing about a change in the lives of the rural masses. The award was first instituted in connection to the golden jubilee year of Indian Independence (1997).

Since then 15 persons have been felicitated by this award at the hands of eminent personalities. The award consists of a citation, a medal and cash prize of Rs. 11,000/- . The donations towards the said facilitation will definitely ensure the facilitation of all contributing to the noble cause.

Selection criteria for Rural Worker Award includes

Every year awardees is selected based on pre set criteria such as

  • Nature of Work done,
  • Primary target group,
  • Approaches & Strategies applied
  • Challenges Faced and strategies adopted to mitigate the same, v) media coverage,
  • Articles by worker,
  • Any previous awards,
  • Fund raising strategies,
  • Family background,
  • Future Planning

Appeal for Nominations

Every year AFARM select the theme/ sector for its rural worker award. AFARM accepts nominations from individuals/ organizations for the award throughout the year. Any Individual or organization that is working for Rural Development and would be a worthy role model to be emulated by others may send their nomination to AFARM.
