Approach & Strategies


AFARM has strategically emphasised on developing Community Cadre in the form of Digitalsakhi, Krushisakhi, Preranasakhi & Silaisakhi to provide thematic services to the women members of the communities.

Women from small & marginal farmers, landless households, having higher proportion of SCs & STs have been organised in to livelihoods groups.

These groups have been federated at village level in the form of Village Organisation through adoption of the participatory processes and empowering them to evolve into an organisation of poor.

The members of these organisation are provided with the information of the available Government schemes and the process of preparation of the convergence plans, follow up support to ensure that these organisations mobilize funds for livelihoods development.

Handholding and troubleshooting support to these community institutions has been provided for the sustaining their groups and linking them with the long-term objectives & other resource organizations.

The resource poor households are graduated from income generation activities to micro enterprises by improving their access to improved inputs, technology and financial resources.

Enterprise specific skills development are imparted through training & capacity building events and need based handholding support by the subject matter specialist.

Entrepreneurship development training has focus on enterprise management, business planning and credit mobilisation and market linkages. It includes linking producer groups with input suppliers and manufacturers to ensure access to quality inputs and to reduce the cost of procurement of inputs through collective procurement of inputs.

Pro-poor marketing facilities through (i) orientation and training of producer groups and micro entrepreneurs on quality, grading, packaging, primary processing (ii) Establishing marketing link with the traders and wholesalers by the producer groups. (iii) Collective procurement of agri. inputs and marketing their produce, through the producer group at the village level.
